INTRO to the interview:

Hi, __________? This is _____________ I am calling you back as you responded to our ad for a health benefits consultant position. I am doing some 15 minute prescreening telephone interviews. Is now a good time for you?

What I'd like to do is ask you a few questions to get to know you a bit, and see if our company and what you're looking for might be a good match.

Would you tell me a little about what you currently do for a living?

How long have you been doing that?

So, what do you like about what you've been doing?

Is there something that you dislike like about what you're doing right now or could do without?

What made you respond to the Health Benefits Consultant ad?

Tell me do you have any experience training or mentoring other people either on the job or off?

Do you have the capability of a home office? Ok

How long have you lived in? Where are you from originally?

Now, our company has quite a standard for the people we look to work with ...there's a lot of work on our part making sure people get the training and resources they need to be successful with their position - so it's important for us to really select people who are teachable and coachable and willing to apply themselves to be successful in their new career. Would you consider yourself coachable?

1. "What did you LIKE about the information you have looked at so far?" Usually they start asking questions…

“OK, that’s a really good question and I will answer your questions in a bit…but first tell me what did you like about the information you have reviewed.

2. "When you say that you liked that...(repeat back what they just said they liked), tell me, WHY are those things important to YOU?" (Let them sell themselves. Take notes here, you should already have some notes from your first phone call with them.) 

3. "Ok, The person we look to work with has three main qualities. They are ambitious, self-motivated, and they have integrity. Do you feel that you have these qualities?"

4. "So, ____________ for yourself, are you able to see how this can help you accomplish what you are looking to achieve?

5."So, _______ tell me why do you think you would be good at this position?" (This is where they are selling YOU on why you should consider them as a business partner on our team - if they don't give you a solid answer here, then you need to seriously consider whether or not you really want to work with them.)

6. “Ok, I do feel that you possess the qualities of someone we would like to work with. So, based on that, I see no reason why we can’t offer you the position, when would you like to get started?
