Mailing info is a no-no. The website offers more comprehensive and detailed information than any mailed item.
If they argue about that, then say "I'd like to send you something ________, but this is a time limited special, by the time it got there it would be over. Plus we talk to so many people nationwide everyday that the cost of the materials, postage, and follow-ups would triple the price of the plan. CAN I GO TO MY OWN DENTIST?

Absolutely. Once you become a member, if your dentist is not on our provider list, then all you do is fill out the referral card and then as a valued member, you get to refer your dentist right into our company and we'll have a professional provider rep contact him/her. If your dentist comes on board you'll be able to save money with your dentist. If he doesn't come on board to save you money, are you willing to continue paying 2-3 x too much for the same care? Or are you willing to go to one of the providers already on our list who will help you?

I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE DENTISTS

All I can tell on my computer is the number of doctors by area. And it looks like in your area there's thousands of providers and specialists. Either way you have a 30 day risk free trial, and your membership packet comes with a dentist referral card, or he might even just honor the prices in your booklet to keep your business since the other providers can. Bottom line is that when most people learn that, instead of having to pay $900 for a root canal with their dentist who is not on our plan, that they could put about $600 of that back in their pocket by going around the corner to a highly credentialed, state board certified, AmeriPlan® dental provider, they usually are more inclined to do so, at least until their dentist can be referred to our company, apply to be a provider and start saving their clients a lot of money on their dental care.

One thing I want to help you avoid is that your spouse is going to ask you a lot of questions, especially from what I've seen, and you're not going to have all the answers just based on our short little conversation, and so if you really think this would be a good plan for you, then why don't you let me handle all those tough questions your spouse might ask. When's the best time for me to get you and your spouse on the phone together?

When you talk to the spouse, say:
"You know, Mr./Mrs. I was not going to enroll your wife/husband until we talked to you because she/he said that you will answer every question we might have and together, the three of us will make the best decision for you."

DVPC (DENTAL PLAN) - This works in conjunction with nearly all HMO'S or PPO'S.

AmeriPlan® Health -
Answer #1 - Yes they can, if they have a high deductible. They'll save about $.50 on the dollar and then everything out of pocket can go towards that deductible. They may not hit their deductible, but they'll save a lot of money every year.

Answer #2 - Yes it can, but it is always at the Doctor's discretion to accept both. As with our Dental Program (DVPC) benefits, your insurance should always be the primary payment form. 

IF THIS IS NOT INSURANCE, THEN HOW DOES IT WORK?

We are the nations largest PAO (Provider Access Organization). What that means is you pay for your reduced fees at the time of service and with NO deductible.

AmeriPlan® is a Nationwide Discount Medical Plan Organization. We arrange for our members to have access to physicians, ancillary services, hospital advocacy, dental, vision, prescription drug, and chiropractic providers who have agreed to offer their services at negotiated discounts off their usual and customary fees.

HOW DO I USE THE BENEFITS?

Within 10 to 14 working days of receipt of your application, you will receive a Member Information Guide, Membership Identification Cards and a Dental, Pharmacy, Vision and Chiropractic Care Directory. Present your Identification Card to any AmeriPlan® provider and you will be eligible to get the discounted fees. You pay the provider at the time of service.

WHAT IS AMERIPLAN® DENTAL CARE?

AmeriPlan Dental® Care is a Discount Medical Program Organization that offers memberships in its discount dental program. Members can save 25% to 65% on all restorative and cosmetic work (fillings, crowns, braces, etc.) and up to 80% on preventative work (teeth cleaning, x-rays, etc.) performed by a general dentist. Specialist fees are discounted 20 - 25%.


Since the dental program is not insurance or a healthcare organization, all ongoing dental problems are accepted except orthodontic treatment in progress. There are immediate savings, no paperwork to fill out and no limits on visits to your dentist.

HOW DO I PAY MY MEMBERSHIP FEE?

Monthly or quarterly payments are made ONLY by electronic bank draft or by credit card. INVOICING IS DONE ONLY FOR ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS PAID ONE YEAR IN ADVANCE. Our Dental Plus membership is $19.95 per month. Family membership includes all residents in the household, including children, parents, relatives and significant others.

WHO ARE THE DENTAL, VISION, PHARMACY, AND CHIROPRACTIC CARE PROVIDERS?

AmeriPlan Dental® Care has assembled one of the largest networks of dental providers in the nation, and we are continually adding to this base. These dentists are well established, with successful dental practices. Our prescription card may be used at our participating pharmacies nationwide, as well as through mail order. The vision care benefits are available nationwide at more than 12,000 providers, and our chiropractic benefits may be used with more than 7,500 credentialed chiropractors.

HOW DO I LOCATE AN AMERIPLAN® PROVIDER?

There are three ways to locate a provider. Instructions are included in the Member Information Guide that you will receive with your identification cards. They are:

ARE ON-GOING MEDICAL CONDITIONS/PROBLEMS INCLUDED?

Since AmeriPlan® is NOT INSURANCE OR A HEALTH ORGANIZATION, all ongoing dental/medical problems (conditions) are included except for contracted treatment plans including orthodontic treatment in progress.

HOW IS THE DISCOUNTED FEE CALCULATED?

The rates that the provider will charge are determined by either a set fee schedule that the provider has contracted with the physician network, or as a percentage off of their billed charges. In general, discounts will vary between 20% - 50%. Labs and Diagnostics will have discounts of up to 80%.

IS THE MEDICAL PROGRAM (CDHC) CONTRACT ON AN ANNUAL BASIS AND CANCELABLE AT ANY TIME, LIKE THE DENTAL PROGRAM (DVPC)?

HOW DOES THE HOSPITAL ADVOCACY PROGRAM WORK?
The Hospital Advocacy Program negotiates with the hospital based on the member's ability to pay.

DO I HAVE TO PAY WHEN I'M IN THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE?

YES. The member shall pay in full at the time services are rendered. The office will call the AmeriPlan Health® repricing agents, who will conduct a phone repricing and tell the office staff how much to collect from the member once the discounts have been applied. The agent will then fax the repriced paperwork to the provider's office and mail an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to the provider and the member. This way the member can have documentation of their discounted pricing.

WHAT IS AN E.O.B.?

An E.O.B. is an insurance industry acronym abbreviation for Explanation of Benefits or E.O.B. This is a statement of benefits which lists the codes of the procedures performed at the office, along with normal fees and the amount the member saved. Members receive these statements from the providers' offices following their visit.

WHEN I ARRIVE FOR AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DOCTORS OFFICE, HOW DO YOU ENSURE THE PROVIDER WILL UNDERSTAND HOW THE PLAN WORKS?

The Customer Service Representative will call the provider's office prior to the member's appointment to ensure that the doctor is accepting new patients, to make sure they understand that the members are self-pay at the time of service and to contact the repricing agent for assistance with the bill. A fax is sent to the physician's office as a follow-up.

In addition, the Customer Service number is on the member's ID card, and the provider is welcome to contact Customer Service if they have any questions on the program.

HOW CAN I FIND IF MY DOCTOR IS IN THE NETWORK?

A database of network medical providers is maintained and available to AmeriPlan Health® members. (This is also available on the website.) The Customer Service Representative can search for a desired provider by name, specialty, and a local zip code. If the provider is in network, the Customer Service Representative will ask if they plan on visiting said provider. If so, Customer Service will contact the provider's office on behalf of the member. If the doctor is not part of the network, they will offer the member another provider in the same specialty and area. This is done so that the member may make the most of the program. The member can also submit a Provider Referral/Nomination form so that they can refer/nominate their doctor, who will then be contacted regarding joining the AmeriPlan Health® network.

HOW TO USE AmeriPlan® HEALTH:
Doctors, Dentists, Chiropractors

  1.   Make an appointment with an AmeriPlan® Provider
  2.   Present your card at the visit
  3.   Pay your fee at the visit and enjoy your AmeriPlan® savings.

Hospitals - in an Emergency

  1.   Call 911 or rush to the hospital Emergency Room
  2.   Get the treatment you need
  3.   After treatment
    •   If the bill is over $2,500 Call the Patient Advocate number on the back of your membership card
    •   If the bill is under $2,500 Pay the hospital or make payment arrangements
  4. If the bill is over $2,500, your Patient Advocate will secure the lowest rate possible for you to pay. Your Patient Advocate will also negotiate monthly payments to fit your budget.

Hospitals - Non-Emergency

  1. Discuss the treatment you will need with your doctor
  2. Call the Patient Advocate listed on your AmeriPlan® Health® membership card. If the bill is over $2,500, your Patient Advocate will secure the lowest rate possible for you to pay. Your Patient Advocate will also negotiate monthly payments to fit your budget.

Vision, Prescriptions

  1.   Visit a participating pharmacy or vision center.
  2.   Show your AmeriPlan® card. At the Pharmacy - show the Health Trans logo on your card
  3.   At the Vision Center - show the Coast to Coast Vision logo on your card
  4.   Pay the fee and enjoy your AmeriPlan® savings.
  5.   For mail order prescriptions, follow the directions in your membership kit. Mail order savings are usually greater than savings at local pharmacies.
